If You Only Knew How Beautiful You Are

If you only knew what a remarkably beautiful creature you are, then yours and others ugliness, denial, neuroses, anger, projections and deception might simply cease to possess you so deeply.

Your magic and beauty would show itself in its full glory.

My heart just breaks for how far away that magic and beauty may seem to you in this moment. My heart just breaks to see it lying just under the surface waiting patiently to come out and play but not being able to just go over there and pull it out and show it to you.

But I must take a deep breath and remember that flowers don’t bloom from yanking on their tucked petals.

I invite you to consider that the keys to unlock you from your prison may just be a perspective shift or two away.

From a series of photos I took many years ago called “The Light Gets In” while having a rare opportunity to wonder around Alcatraz on my own with no tourists or guards.

A thought, a vision, or a pulled heart string is sometimes all it takes to reveal your magnificence to you in such a way that it makes the war inside of you obsolete.

May it be so.

I spent decades getting people out of physical prisons by legalizing drugs. Now I help people out of their own mental and emotional prisons.
